Body Contouring Q&A

What is body contouring?

Body contouring is a noninvasive procedure that uses targeted laser energy to heat and destroy fat cells that don’t respond to diet and exercise. Treatment doesn’t require any incisions or downtime, so you can return to work and other activities right away.

What areas of the body can TightSculpting body contouring treat?

At Generations Family Practice Wellness Center, the team uses TightSculpting to remove fat from various parts of the body:

  • Belly/abdomen
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Face
  • Neck
  • Arms
  • Waist

If you have excess fat that doesn’t respond to TightSculpting alone, your provider might also perform lipolysis.

What does body contouring involve?

At Generations Family Practice Wellness Center, the team performs body contouring with the Fotona laser. Body contouring is noninvasive and uses a dual-wavelength laser to sculpt and tighten your skin.

Before body contouring treatment begins, you change into a gown and lie down on an exam table. Then, your provider applies a handheld device to your skin. The device emits laser energy at various wavelengths, heating up the fat cells beneath. Over time, your lymphatic system processes the fat cells, and they exit your body with other waste.

Most body contouring appointments last between 45 and 60 minutes, and there’s no downtime, so you can return to your routine right away.

When do I experience results from body contouring?

The time it takes to experience results from body contouring depends on several factors, including your age and the treatment area. Typically, it takes two or three weeks for your body to start eliminating the fat.

To ensure optimal results, the team might recommend a series of body contouring treatments spaced several weeks apart.

Is body contouring painful?

Body contouring is safe and usually well-tolerated. During treatment, your skin warms, similar to a hot stone massage. There’s no anesthesia required, but if you feel uncomfortable at any time, let your provider know. They can adjust the treatment settings as necessary.

Is body contouring a substitute for weight loss?

Body contouring isn’t a substitute treatment for weight loss or obesity. The team at Generations Family Practice Wellness Center only recommends TightSculpting for people who are at or around their ideal weight. If you’re significantly overweight, your provider might recommend medically supervised weight loss instead.
